Let me tell you a story about the time I was a software engineer ...

Cold Fusion Hosting ??

For the past couple of years I've been using hostingfuse.com to host my personal sites. For value for money they're awesome at only $9 AU per month. The service has been great and the servers run quickly most of the time. The H-Sphere control panel gives you almost full control over the server configuration and the accounts are generously provisioned.

The only problem I've run into is that from time to time my sites have had pages timing out on them. It seems like they have the servers pretty heavily loaded. For that kind of money, I can understand why.

I'm thinking of moving to another provider with more powerful servers of possibly less loaded ones. These are the plans I'm currently looking at in order of preference:

I'll add to this post as I find more. Can anyone suggest any good value hosting providers out there?

Spooky. I was looking for the same thing last night. Found this host on someone else's blog:

Hi Jason,
we're a Coldfusion hosting provider in the Netherlands. We have more than 7 years experience with Coldfusion and CF hosting. Why don't you take a look at our different CF hosting packages (http://onlinebase.nl/index.cfm?category=2&entr... Oh, and did I mention we're very cheap ;-) ?
Greetings from the Lowlands

Hmm, seems your comment-script messed with the URL I wrote down - maybe if I add an escaped ampersand? Anyways, here goes again: http://onlinebase.nl/index.cfm?category=2&...

Hey Jason,
I have been with fasthit for many years.
Cant say a bad thing about them.
They are very customer focused and nothing it too much trouble.
They are also one of the first to have new CF versions and options enabled.

They currently have free CF8 tryout accounts on their servers too.

Go try them out. I highly recommend them.

www.hostnexus.com - Lots for your dollar and billing office in Australia. They provide PLESK control panel.
www.crystaltech.com - solid performer as are www.hostmysite.com which you have on your list. Both CT and HMS have their own control panels.

www.ahphosting.com (formerly www.cfhosting.com) has been providing free bandwidth, hosting, etc. for House of Fusion for the last 9 years or so. I've gotten some NICE offers to move but I'm quite happy where I am and if they're taking care of me (and the community by proxy), I should take care of them.
They should have a special CF 8 deal out as soon as CF 8 is out.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As far as features/$ goes, hostnexus, HostMySite, DailyRazor and CrystalTech all look really great. Fasthit are more expensive and offer less in their packages, but they are in Australia. I guess the price of bandwidth down under continues to bite us in the arse. :) I'm still undecided at this point.

I'm with HostMySite on a CF entry level VPS. Other than some problems with getting CF7 to behave itself in Windows Server 2003 with the JVM I had set up, it's been smooth sailing and the customer service turnaround borders on spooky.

Crystaltech, however, I would avoid, unfortunately. I was a customer of theirs for multiple client sites and I have stopped recommending them (at least for their shared hosting plans) because of their tendency to oversubscribe hardware. When you first sign up, everything will be great, nice and fast etc, but over time they will fill up the machine you are hosted on and everything will begin to drag out and perform slower and slower. Not good! And then, when one complains about the issue they will tell you it's your fault for writing inefficient code... though it worked just fine when we put it online there to start with!

So, I would try Hostmysite before CT if I were you, because I have tried both already. <grin>
